Ace was first adopted from the West LA Shelter back in February. Just a few months later, he was returned emaciated, dehydrated, and weighing nearly half of what a healthy nine month old Doberman should weigh.
But somehow, even after everything, Ace still smiles.
He still reaches his paw through the kennel bars looking for connection. Still leans into kindness. Still greets the world with soft eyes and one of the sweetest souls imaginable.
When I first met Ace at the shelter, before he was adopted, he walked to the front of his kennel and gave me one of those moments in rescue you never forget. The kind that stays with you long after you leave.
Now he needs us again.
Ace is currently being fed four times a day as his body slowly recovers. At only 38 pounds, he’s already beginning to gain weight back. Thank Dog. He’s dog friendly, affectionate, eager to please, and somehow still full of joy despite what he’s endured.
